Dear Willie Surratt MX School,
Austyn and I would like to thank everyone who attended to help teach the class and wait on us during lunch.  I would like to add that everything was great.  Everyone has left such a great impression on us during school that we will catch the things we are doing wrong while we are racing and it has helped us tremendously.  Austyn and I set goals before the race that we are going to utilize during our race which will be some new things that we were taught during class, and in the last two races I would have to say we both have been successful.  Austyn's big issue during a race was he would fall a few times and always end up in 4th place or worse, but since the class Austyn has raced twice and hasn’t fell once and placed 2nd in both races this has been a big ego booster for him.  Learning to control the bike at all levels of speed has been great for both of us, and the clutch has been another big help.  Who says you can’t “teach old dog new tricks”, this old lady would like to thank everyone.

October 28, 2006 Jodi took 2nd out of 16 and Austyn took 2nd out of 12.  I should have had 1st but someone cut the track, and I didn’t want to protest it.  I felt it wouldn’t have benefited me by any means, and 3rd place was almost 3 minutes behind me.

November 4, 2006 Jodi took 2nd out of 8? And Austyn took 2nd out 18.  This was one of our most difficult rides, because it was so physically demanding, the loop was approximately 6 miles long and 5 out of the 6 miles was silt or sand approximately 18” to 20” deep, this was one of my most difficult races in Mesquite, NV.  The girl that beat me was about 16? and about 30 seconds ahead of me, but I was happy with my results we were the only two in our class to complete 3 laps in the amount of time everyone else completed 2 laps.  We were happy with Austyn and his race because the boy that took first beat him in February by about 2 min and this race only beat him by maybe 20-30 seconds.  Austyn lost his shifter with two laps left and pulled off the track and we told him to go with no shifter, and what a awesome job he did with his clutch work, he had mentioned he really liked the class and it worked well in that race.
Thanks to Everyone

P.S.
Any suggestions on how I should train to help me keep up with the younger generation physically?
Jodi

Willie and Crew, thanks again for everything. I learned some new techniques that I think will help me become a better rider. I will keep reminding myself to be more mellow and smooth on the bike. Like you said, you must slow down to go fast. My dad and I had a great time and the food was awesome. Thanx again!

p.s. I was wondering if you had any pictures taken over the two day class? I wanted to show my family and friends

Old Dog Learns New Tricks

When I heard the Willie Surratt Motocross School was coming to Montana my first thought was “What could a 50 year old terminal novice possibly learn from former Supercross Champion”. Still,  I was curious so I talked to the local shop, Motosports Connection, that was sponsoring the school to find out more about it. One of the most important details to me was that the class size was limited to ensure all students would receive focused instruction. The class was also on a  day that had a local race scheduled in the evening, and  Willie, his son and the other instructors were going to the race. I was in.

You can’t take a one day school and expect to have all of your problems solved. The goal has to be to improve in one or two areas. Willie and his crew of instructors were very focused on the students and their individual riding styles.  Several times during the day I was pulled aside for some ‘one on one’ coaching. Willie is a good instructor and he stayed with me until he was sure I understood the concept he was teaching. I took home two new techniques to work on and have been improving on them during my free riding and personal training sessions. The school was time and money well spent.

I highly recommend the Willie Surratt Motocross School for all levels of riders interested in taking their skills to the next level, even ’50 year old terminal novices’.

Hi, My name is Randy Zitnik From Z4 Racing in Cypress Ca.

My son Anthony and I had the opportunity to attend your MX school this past weekend at Lake Elsinore MX park. I just want to tell you it was a very informative and a blast. My son and I were very please with the school. I would recommend this school to anyone of all ages to attend. Weather it be to brush up on your racing skills or just to learn some basics riding techniques. The four instructors were all on the same page and very knowledgeable. I feel you have improved Anthony's as well as my riding skills a lot in just the 2 days of schooling.
I want to say thanks to White Brothers as well as the other sponsors for doing a great job as well. I look forward to attending again and maybe some private lessons as well.

Thanks again for a great school.

Randy Zitnik
